Former secretary of the Election Commission (EC) Helaluddin Ahmed has been arrested by the police. He was arrested by the Kotwali police station from Khulshi in Chattogram city around 6:00pm on Wednesday (September 23). An official of the Chattogram city police confirmed the matter to the media. The official said that around 6:30 in the evening, former secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat Helaluddin Ahmed was arrested by police from Khulshi area of the city. There is a case against him in a Police Station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

নির্বাচন কমিশনের (ইসি) সাবেক সচিব হেলালুদ্দীন আহমদকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে পুলিশ। বুধবার (২৩ সেপ্টেম্বর) সন্ধ্যা ৬টার দিকে চট্টগ্রাম নগরীর খুলশি থেকে তাকে গ্রেপ্তার করে কোতোয়ালি থানা পুলিশ। চট্টগ্রাম নগর পুলিশের এক কর্মকর্তা গণমাধ‌্যমে বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন। ওই কর্মকর্তা বলেন, সন্ধ্যা সাড়ে ৬টার দিকে নির্বাচন কমিশন সচিবালয়ের সাবেক সচিব হেলালুদ্দীন আহমদকে নগরীর খুলশী এলাকা থেকে সিএসপির কোতোয়ালি থানা পুলিশ গ্রেপ্তার করেছে। তার বিরুদ্ধে ঢাকা মেট্রোপলিটন থানায় মামলা রয়েছে।
