Former state minister Kamal Majumder’s bail petition rejected
The tribunal has rejected the bail petition of former state minister Kamal Ahmed Majumder, who was arrested in a case over crimes against humanity during the July uprising. However, the court will give an order on Tuesday, September 23, on whether he will be treated at a hospital considering his illness.
On the morning of September 22, Kamal Mojumder’s lawyer sought bail and advanced treatment. He also prayed for his client to be treated at PG Hospital, but that was not possible.
The defence said hospital authorities informed them that there were no seats available.
Kamal Ahmed Mojumder was arrested on the night of October 18 from Gulshan in the capital. Since then, he has been placed on remand several times for interrogation in multiple cases.
Meanwhile, in the case filed over crimes against humanity during the July uprising against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, the tribunal is set to record testimony for the 20th day today. The testimony is being heard at International Crimes Tribunal-1 led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder.
