Four Bangladeshi brothers found dead inside car in Oman

The bodies of four Bangladeshi expatriate brothers have been recovered from inside a car in Oman's Muladdah area. The incident took place on Tuesday night, May 12, and the bodies were discovered on Wednesday morning, May 13 .

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Rashed, 35, Mohammad Shahed, 32, Mohammad Siraj, 27, and Mohammad Shahid, 24. They were sons of the late Mohammad Jamal Uddin from the Bandarajar Para area of Lalanagar Union in Rangunia upazila, Chattogram .

According to local and family sources, two of the brothers were scheduled to return to Bangladesh on Friday, May 15. Siraj and Shahid were unmarried and planned to get married after returning home. The four brothers had gone out together in a car to shop for the upcoming weddings and their homeward journeys .

On Wednesday evening, the brothers were in the Barka area and later departed for Muladdah. After 8:00 pm, one of the brothers sent a voice message via WhatsApp to a relative in Barka, stating they were feeling extremely ill and unable to exit the vehicle. He also shared their live location .

Later that night, two Bangladeshi expatriates spotted the four men lying unconscious inside the parked car in front of a clinic in Muladdah and alerted the police. Officers arrived, opened the vehicle, and recovered the bodies around 2:00 am .

Authorities initially suspect the deaths may have been caused by toxic gas build-up or air conditioning malfunction inside the car while the engine was running. However, Omani police are awaiting full autopsy reports to confirm the exact cause of death .

The bodies are currently under police custody at a local morgue. The Bangladesh Embassy in Oman is coordinating with local authorities to repatriate the bodies, which are expected to be sent back to Bangladesh by Sunday or Monday .

The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the Bandarajar Para area and Rangunia upazila, with relatives and locals mourning the tragic loss of the four brothers . Mohammad Enam is the only surviving brother of the family .
