Four bogies of the Intercity Ekota Express train derailed in the Dohorshola area of Lalpur upazila, Natore, on Monday afternoon, July 13, suspending rail communication between Dhaka and North Bengal. However, train services on the Khulna-bound route remain normal.

The derailment occurred around 4:30 pm when the Dhaka-bound Ekota Express from Panchagarh reached the Dohorshola area between Ishwardi Bypass and Azimnagar stations.

A rescue train was dispatched from Ishwardi Loco Shed, and railway engineers and workers began restoration work before evening.

Ishwardi Bypass Railway Station Master Abdul Alim said restoration work is ongoing, but it may take some time to normalise train movement.
