Four workers have died in two separate incidents while working inside tanks at under-construction buildings in Chattogram. Two died in the Noapara area of Raozan upazila, and two others died in the Dhaniyala Para area under Double Mooring Police Station in the city.

In the first incident, Pradeep Dash, 38, and Samiran Dash, 32, died after entering a septic tank in Jhikuti Para, Noapara union, Raozan.

According to police, work was underway at the septic tank of an under-construction house owned by Kartik Dash. Several workers were inside the tank. When one worker fell ill, Pradeep Dash went into the tank to rescue him. Although the worker was pulled up, Pradeep fell back into the tank. Samiran also fell in while trying to rescue Pradeep.

Fire service personnel recovered them, but both had already died. The two were cousins, police said.

In the second incident, two workers — Hridoy, 25, and Shakib, 22 — died after entering a tank at an under-construction building in Dhaniyala Para under Double Mooring Police Station on Friday afternoon.

Police said work was underway on a tank at the building owned by Nurul Huda. One worker entered the tank to remove a bamboo frame but could not come out. Another worker went in to rescue him, but both remained trapped inside.

Police said it was not yet confirmed whether the tank was septic or for water storage.
