Four Durga Puja idols vandalised in Kushtia
Miscreants have vandalised four idols made on the occasion of Durga Puja at Khayerchara Sarbojonin Matrimandir of Kumarkhali municipality of Kushtia. The temple authorities have informed that the heads of the idols were broken after entering the temple late at night on Thursday.
Officer-in-charge of Kumarkhali police station Jamal Uddin informed that no one was present at the temple after 2am. It is being assumed that the miscreants entered the temple taking this opportunity and vandalised the idols.
He further informed that there was a dispute over the temple management committee. Police talked with the members of the committee on this matter on Thursday. At that time they had informed the police that CCTV cameras have been installed at the temple and there is no problem.
OC Jamal Uddin informed that legal measures will be taken against the persons involved by investigating the incident with importance.
General Secretary of the temple committee Kaushik Biswas informed that the members of the committee were present at the temple till 2am on Thursday. After waking up around 6am on Friday they found the bamboo fence of the temple broken. Entering inside they found the heads of the four idols in a broken condition.
Investigation is continuing to identify who are involved with the incident. However confirmed information to blame anyone has not been found so far.
