Four injured in Chattogram shooting over turf dispute
At least four people, including a child, were injured in a shooting during a clash between rival groups over territorial dominance in Bakalia of Chattogram.
The incident took place around 10:00pm in the Miyakhan Nagar flour mill area on Saturday night (April 4), where tensions between the two groups had reportedly been simmering for a long time.
The injured were identified as Md. Hasan, Jasim, Ismail Mia, and 12-year-old Fahim. They were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors said the victims sustained pellet injuries to their legs.
According to eyewitnesses, supporters of one group opened fire using shotguns, triggering panic among residents.
Police detained five suspects in connection with the incident. The main accused, Morshed Khan, is listed by law enforcement as a known criminal who recently returned to the area after a period in hiding.
Mohammad Solaiman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bakalia Police Station, said, "Operations are underway to identify and arrest those involved, while security has been tightened in the area."
