Four more children die with measles symptoms in 24-hour

Four more children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In a statement issued by its control room on Friday (August 14), the DGHS said 972 new cases involving measles symptoms were reported during the same period.

Between March 15 and August 14, a total of 141,048 people have been reported with measles-like symptoms across the country. Laboratory tests have confirmed measles in 17,730 cases, including 187 new confirmed infections in the latest 24-hour period.

DGHS data show that 122,974 people have been hospitalised with measles symptoms since March 15. Of them, 118,540 patients have recovered and been discharged.

The latest deaths bring renewed attention to the ongoing measles outbreak, with health authorities continuing surveillance, testing and treatment efforts nationwide.
