Four more dengue deaths, 1,233 hospitalised in 24 hours

Four more people have died from dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, while 1,233 new patients were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease.

The information was provided in a dengue bulletin from the Directorate General of Health Services on Monday, September 7, covering the 24-hour period from Sunday morning to Monday morning.

The DGHS said a total of 121 people have died from dengue so far this year. Among them, 43 died in August and 24 in September so far. Additionally, two died in January, two in February, one in May, 13 in June and 36 in July.

In the last 24 hours, 139 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North City Corporation, 143 in Dhaka South City Corporation, and 225 in hospitals outside the two city corporations within Dhaka.

Outside Dhaka, the highest number of patients were admitted in Khulna division with 235, followed by Chattogram with 198, Barishal with 153, Rajshahi with 99, Rangpur with 36 and Sylhet with five.

According to the DGHS, a total of 43,823 dengue patients have been hospitalised since January 1 this year. Of them, 40,610 have recovered and been discharged. Currently, 3,092 patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals across the country.
