Four more die with measles symptoms, death toll reaches 725

The measles outbreak in the country continues unabated. Four more people died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. With this, the death toll from measles symptoms from March 15 to July 26 this year has risen to 725, all of them children.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provided this information in a press release from its control room on Sunday (July 26).

The release said no confirmed measles deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. However, a total of 95 people have died from confirmed measles between March 15 and July 26. During this period, 990 new suspected measles patients were identified in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected measles cases to 123,753.

According to the DGHS, 170 new confirmed measles cases were reported in the last day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the current outbreak to 15,442. Meanwhile, between March 15 and July 26, a total of 106,239 people have been hospitalised with measles symptoms across the country. Of them, 102,467 have recovered and been discharged.

The DGHS has urged everyone to ensure timely vaccination of children to prevent the spread of measles and advised infected individuals to seek immediate medical care.
