Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid has said that a free and fair election can be held under the current administration. He said this while talking with reporters during a discussion at the Secretariat on Thursday (January 8). He said, “Not everyone arrives with experiences. Experience develop and is built through situations. If we can ensure they follow the correct path and their mindset is right, they will be 100 percent successful.” The secretary added, “If we notice any irregularities, we will take measures accordingly. Not arbitrarily. Generally, we believe that they (field administration) are prepared and capable. If we receive any specific complaints, we will certainly consider them immediately.”

বর্তমান প্রশাসন নিয়ে সুষ্ঠু ও নিরপেক্ষ নির্বাচন করা যাবে বলে জানিয়েছেন মন্ত্রিপরিষদ সচিব শেখ আব্দুর রশীদ। বৃহস্পতিবার (৮ জানুয়ারি) সচিবালয়ে সাংবাদিকদের সঙ্গে আলাপকালে এ তিনি এ কথা জানান। তিনি বলেন, অভিজ্ঞতা তো সবাই নিয়ে আসে না। অভিজ্ঞতা তো তৈরি হয়। অবস্থায় পড়লে অভিজ্ঞতা তৈরি হয়। তারা সঠিক পথে চলবেন, চলতে পারবেন— এটি যদি আমরা নিশ্চিত করতে পারি, তাদের মনোভাব যদি সঠিক থাকে, তাহলে তারা সফল হবেন, ১০০ ভাগ সফল হবেন। সচিব বলেন, আমরা যদি কোনো বিচ্যুতি দেখতে পাই, তাহলে আমরা সেভাবে ব্যবস্থা নেব। ঢালাওভাবে তো কিছু না। আমরা সাধারণভাবে মনে করছি তারা (মাঠ প্রশাসন) প্রস্তুত আছেন, যোগ্য আছেন। যদি সুনির্দিষ্টভাবে কোনো অভিযোগ পাওয়া যায়, আমরা অবশ্যই তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে বিবেচনা করব।
