Freedom fighter assaulted after being tied with tree in Gafargaon

A freedom fighter was reportedly tied with a tree and humiliated with a garland of shoes in Gafargaon of Mymensingh.

The brutal act took place around 11:00am at Mukhi village under Moshakhali union of the Upazila on Tuesday morning ( November 5).

The victim, Abdul Karim, was later handed over to police, confirmed Pagla Police Station OC Ferdous Alam.

"Karim was accused in a case filed by a man alleging attempted sexual assault on his teenage daughter," the OC said.

However, locals said the incident stemmed from a long-running land dispute. Karim’s son, Didar Alam, claimed several local men attacked his father, demanded Tk 20 lakh in extortion, and forced him to leave the village.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. Afterward, the attackers handed Karim over to police, who recorded the case.
