Freedom fighter Morshed Sarkar laid to rest with state honour
Bir Muktijoddha Morshed Alam Sarkar has been laid to rest with full state honour at Sundalpur village in Daudkandi upazila, Cumilla.
A guard of honour was given to him at Sundalpur High School ground after Asr prayers on Monday, April 6. Daudkandi Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Redwan Islam received the salute on behalf of the state.
Floral wreaths were placed on the coffin, which was draped with the national flag. A smart team of Daudkandi Model Police Station gave the guard of honour, followed by the playing of the bugle's last post and one minute of silence. The funeral was held at the same venue, after which he was buried at Sundalpur graveyard.
Morshed Sarkar passed away at a hospital in the capital at 11:00 am on Monday. He was the son of late Abdus Samad Sarkar of the Dhangaji Sarkar family in Sundalpur village. He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter and many well-wishers.
