Despite the increase in global fuel prices due to the war situation, it will not impact the upcoming Eid travel in the country, Commerce, Industry, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir has said. Additionally, there is no possibility of price hikes for essential commodities. However, if the war is prolonged, some crisis may emerge in the global economy. He said, "We are in favour of peace. Hopefully, the war will end soon and peace will be established in the world."

The minister made these remarks in response to questions from journalists at an event distributing Iftar and Eid gifts among labour families of Ward 19 at the Raynagar Daptaripara Mosque ground in Sylhet city on Saturday afternoon, March 14.

In response to a question about the government's steps if the war is prolonged, Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said this government is directly elected by the people. The government has taken all possible preparations regarding what needs to be done to keep people's safety and livelihoods normal. There is no reason for ordinary people to worry due to the government's preparations.

Earlier, speaking as the chief guest at the Eid gift distribution event, the minister said the promises made while seeking votes before the election will be implemented gradually. Various problems of this city will also be solved step by step. He sought everyone's prayers and cooperation to fulfil the responsibility given by the people through their votes.

Sylhet Metropolitan BNP Acting President Rezaul Hasan Qayes Lodi, General Secretary Emdad Hossain Chowdhury, event organiser Shafiqur Rahman Sumon, and BNP leaders at various levels were present at the time.

Later, the minister participated in Iftar and prayer gatherings organised by Bangladesh United Professional Council, Sylhet-based Sunamganj Association, and Sylhet Metropolitan Police.
