Despite volatility in global fuel markets, the government has decided not to increase domestic fuel prices for April. Diesel, kerosene, petrol, and octane will continue to be sold at March rates, according to sources from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

The prices for April are set as follows: Diesel – BDT 100/litre, Kerosene – BDT 112/litre, Petrol – BDT 116/litre, and Octane – BDT 120/litre.

Since March last year, the government has implemented an automatic fuel pricing system aligned with international market trends, with new prices announced monthly. In addition to fuel price adjustments, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) sets monthly prices for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in line with global market rates.

According to the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation, the country’s annual fuel demand is approximately 7.5 million tons, with about 75% for diesel—mainly used in agricultural irrigation, transportation, and generators. The remaining 25% demand is met by petrol, octane, kerosene, jet fuel, furnace oil, and other fuels.

While BPC previously adjusted jet fuel for aviation and furnace oil for power plants, BERC now manages these adjustments monthly. Prices for diesel, kerosene, petrol, and octane continue to be set by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
