Garment worker killed after motorcycle hits him in Turag

A garment worker was killed after a speeding motorcycle hit him while he was crossing a road in Turag’s Nalbhog area on Wednesday night (September 23).

The deceased was identified as Md Hasan Talukder, 48, son of Abdus Sobahan Talukder of Udaykathi village in Pirojpur Sadar. He worked as an accessories label operator at a garment factory and lived in a mess in the Nalbhog area.

Hasan left the mess around 8pm to buy groceries when the motorcycle struck him near the Nalbhog graveyard, according to his roommate Akram Hossain.

He sustained critical injuries and was initially taken to Bangladesh Medical College Hospital in Uttara. He was later transferred to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital emergency department at around 10:45pm, where doctors declared him dead, said SI Md Selim Hossain of the DMCH police outpost.

The body has been kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy. The matter has been reported to Turag Police Station and legal proceedings are underway, police said.
