A garment worker was killed after being hit by a bus in Chattogram city on Sunday morning (August 23). The deceased was identified as Arun Das, 59, a resident of Baluchhara in the Jalalabad area under Bayezid Bostami Police Station. The accident took place around 8am in front of Visual Garments in the Baluchhara area, when a bus coming from the front struck Arun, leaving him critically injured. He was rescued and taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Nurul Alam Ashek, in-charge of the Chattogram Medical College Hospital police outpost, confirmed the death, saying Arun was brought to the hospital around 8:30am and was pronounced dead by the attending physician. c

চট্টগ্রামে বাসের ধাক্কায় অরুণ দাশ (৫৯) নামের এক গার্মেন্টস শ্রমিকের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। রোববার (২৩ আগস্ট) সকাল আটটার দিকে নগরীর বায়েজিদ বোস্তামী এলাকায় বালুছড়া ভিজুয়াল গার্মেন্টসের সামনে এই দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। নিহত অরুণ দাশ বায়েজিদ বোস্তামী থানার জালালাবাদ এলাকার বালুছড়া এলাকার বাসিন্দা। তার বাবার নাম সতীশ দাশ এবং মায়ের নাম নিয়তি বালা দাশ। জানা গেছে, সকালে ভিজুয়াল গার্মেন্টসের সামনে একটি বাস সামনে থেকে এসে অরুণ দাশকে সজোরে ধাক্কা দেয়। এতে তিনি গুরুতর আহত হন। পরে তাকে উদ্ধার করে চট্টগ্রাম মেডিকেল কলেজ (চমেক) হাসপাতালে নেওয়া হলে কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক মৃত ঘোষণা করেন। এ বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে চমেক হাসপাতাল পুলিশ ফাঁড়ির ইনচার্জ নুরুল আলম আশেক বলেন, ‘সকাল সাড়ে আটটার দিকে তাকে চট্টগ্রাম মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে আনা হয়। পরে কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন।’
