Gazette issued upgrading primary head teachers to 10th grade

The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has issued a gazette upgrading government primary school head teachers to the 10th grade. Teachers will receive salaries and allowances under the new grade with effect from December 15.
According to the gazette, head teachers of government primary schools under the ministry’s control have been upgraded from their existing 11th grade under the 2015 pay scale, salary range 12,500–30,230 taka, to the 10th grade, salary range 16,000–38,640 taka, as gazetted officers.
Teachers said they had already drawn their November salaries under the 11th grade.
The salary difference for the new grade, effective from December 15, will be added with the following month’s payments in January.
The development follows a long movement by head teachers to realise their demands. However, assistant teachers have not yet succeeded in securing their demands for upgrading to the 11th or 12th grade. They recently suspended their December protest programmes due to students’ third-term assessments.
