Gazette of 128 July fighters being canceled

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has decided to cancel the gazette recognition of 128 July Movement fighters, citing duplication and lack of eligibility.

According to an official press release, the names were dropped as several listed individuals were not injured or directly involved in the July uprising, while some were included in multiple gazettes.

Based on district committee recommendations, 21 names from Mymensingh, 27 from Sylhet, 39 from Chattogram, 9 from Khulna, 3 from Rangpur, 14 from Dhaka, 13 from Rajshahi, and 2 from Barishal divisions have been removed.

Of the total, 23 were canceled for duplication and 105 for not meeting the criteria.

The ministry also warned that legal action will be taken against those who fraudulently enlisted or assisted in such inclusion and misused public funds.
