Gazette on Police Dress Rules, 2025 published
A gazette was published on Tuesday over the new Police Dress Rules, 2025.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 12 of the Police Act, 1861 (Act. No. V of 1861), the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), with the approval of the Government, is pleased to make the rules,” said the gazette.
The new rules outline precise uniform specifications—including attire, rank badges, and monograms for every rank from Inspector General to constable—and establish tailored dress codes for specialized units like the RAB, APBn, and the women’s police.
National flower Shapla (water lily), resting on water, surrounded by wheat and paddy wreath jointed by three jute leaves at the top, the word "Police" in Bengali shall be written below the lower joint of paddy and wheat wreath in the police logo/monogram.
The regulations are designed to harmonize police attire for both operational duties and ceremonial events.
According to the gazette, these provisions shall prevail over any conflicting rules, regulations, or orders currently in force.
