Gazette published for 50 MPs in reserved seats for women
The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday published gazette notification detailing the names and addresses of the elected members of parliament in the 50 reserved seats for women in the 12th Jatiya Sangsad.
The published gazette reads, “On the basis of the reserved women seats distributed in favor of political parties and alliances under section 4 of the National Parliament (Reserved Women's Seats) Election Act, 2004, the Election Commission is hereby appointed as 'Member of Parliament' in the reserved women's seats in the National Parliament under Section 26(2). EC Publishes the name, father/husband name and address of selected candidates.”
According to the notification issued today, among the 50 MPs, 48 are from Awami League and its allies, and two are from Jatiyo Party. All the 50 women MPs were elected to their seats unopposed.
The gazette notification will be sent to the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat and later the secretariat will arrange the oath taking ceremony for the MPs.
