Gazetted 'July fighter' held with 20 yaba pills in Barguna

Police's Detective Branch (DB) has arrested a gazetted 'July fighter' with 20 yaba pills in Barguna. The arrest was made on Saturday night, August 8, from the Heulibunia area of Sadar upazila .

The arrested individual is Sumon Mridha, 35. He is a resident of Chalitatli village in Baliatli Union of Barguna Sadar upazila. Police said Sumon is a gazetted individual of the July movement .

DB police said that as part of regular anti-drug operations, based on secret information, a raid was conducted on Saturday night in front of Dafadar's house in the Heulibunia area. At that time, Sumon Mridha was detained. Later, a search of his body led to the recovery of 20 yaba pills, police claimed.

Barguna District Detective Branch (DB) in-charge Md Sajjat Hossain said Sumon Mridha was initially interrogated after being detained with yaba. He was later handed over to Barguna Sadar Police Station.

He said a case under the Narcotics Control Act has been filed against Sumon Mridha in this connection. He has been shown arrested in that case.
