GD filed against two in Bhola over Facebook comments against PM

Former general secretary of district Swechchhasebak Dal Khandaker Al Amin has filed a general diary (GD) mentioning the names of two persons in Bhola on the allegation of making indecent and disrespectful comments about Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Facebook. Seven more unidentified persons have also been accused in the same GD.

The GD was filed at Bhola Model Police Station on Tuesday (September 8) afternoon. In it, Abdur Rahman Rifat, 19, son of Abdul Jalil of Ward No. 3 of Dhania Union of Sadar upazila, and Md Masum, 18, son of Md Nasir, have been accused.

In the GD, Khandaker Al Amin alleged that the accused made indecent and disrespectful comments about Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, his daughter and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in a Facebook video last Friday evening. He has demanded legal action against those involved in this incident.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhola Sadar Model Police Station Md Monirul Islam said an application will be filed in court on Wednesday seeking permission to investigate the GD. Investigation will start once permission is received from the court. He also said the accused have already left the area and gone into hiding.

Meanwhile, the accused college student Abdur Rahman Rifat expressed regret for the comments in a Facebook post on Tuesday evening. There he claimed that he had said some indecent and disrespectful words about the Prime Minister out of emotion while chatting with friends. He has sincerely expressed regret for this comment and also sought unconditional apology.
