Girl rescued in Dhaka a year after going missing

Police have rescued a teenage girl from Dhaka’s Bangshal area nearly a year after she went missing.

With the help of information technology, she was rescued from a house in the Shah Ali police station area around 2:30am on Thursday.

According to Bangshal police, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md. Akhtar Hossain said the girl went missing on September 16, 2025, after leaving home at around 10:30am, saying she was going to school.

Her father, Md. Jinnat, filed a general diary (GD) with Bangshal police the following day.

While investigating the GD, police traced the girl’s location with the help of information technology.

Based on the location identified, police conducted a raid on a house in the Shah Ali police station area on Wednesday night and rescued her.

After completing the necessary procedures, police handed the girl over to her family’s custody.
