Girl's body found in Bagerhat
Police have found the body of a teenage girl named Riya Moni with her throat slit in Bagerhat's Sharankhola upazila. The body was recovered from a road in Rajoir village of the upazila on Tuesday morning (March 24).
The deceased Riya Moni lived with her grandmother Halima Khatun in the village. She is the daughter of Azim Sheikh. Her parents have been living in Brahmanbaria for a long time.
The imam of the local Jama Masjid said that during Fajr prayers, worshippers saw the teenage girl's body lying on the road on their way to the mosque. The matter was later reported to the police.
Police said that they received information from locals and recovered Riya Moni's body from the scene.
However, locals claim that drug dealers used her to sell yaba and ganja at different times and that she herself was a drug addict.
Sharankhola Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saminul Islam said the body has been recovered and sent to the Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue. Investigations are underway to identify those involved in the incident and efforts are ongoing to arrest the criminals
