Golam Rasul, Shahidur Rahman appointed additional IGPs on contractual basis

Golam Rasul, Chief of the Police Special Branch (SB), and A.K.M. Shahidur Rahman, Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), have been appointed as Additional Inspector Generals of Police (Additional IGP) on a contractual basis.

The appointments were made official on Sunday through two separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Public Administration under the directive of the President.

According to the notifications, in line with Section 49 of the Government Service Act, 2018, both officials have had their post-retirement leave and related benefits suspended. Furthermore, they are required to relinquish any other professions, businesses, or employment with government, semi-government, or private organizations.

The contract tenure for both appointments is set to commence from September 1, 2025, and will continue until March 15, 2026.

These appointments come as part of a continued effort to strengthen the leadership within the police force, with both officers bringing extensive experience from their respective departments.
