Gold price cut by Tk 1,691 per bhori

The price of gold jewellery in domestic market has been cut by Tk 1,691 per bhori for 22-carat gold, bringing the price, including VAT, to Tk 232,930.

The new rates took effect from 10am Saturday (September 26), the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) said in a notice issued after a meeting of its Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.

The price cut followed a decline in the price of tezaabi gold in the local market.

Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold jewellery costs Tk 222,491 per bhori, down Tk 1,574, while 18-carat gold is priced at Tk 191,056, down Tk 1,342.

The price of traditional-method gold has been reduced by Tk 1,108 to Tk 156,064 per bhori.

The latest cut came a week after BAJUS raised gold prices by the same amounts on September 19.

Silver jewellery prices have also been reduced. The price of 22-carat silver has fallen by Tk 291 to Tk 4,841 per bhori, while 21-carat silver is now Tk 4,607, 18-carat silver Tk 3,966 and traditional-method silver Tk 3,033 per bhori.
