Gold price has been reduced by up to Tk 6,591 per bhori in domestic market, with the new rates taking effect from 10:00am today (June 10).

On Wednesday morning, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association cited a decline in the price of tejabi — or pure gold — in the international market as the reason for the revision.

The steepest cut brings the finest-grade 22-carat gold down to Tk 2,22,782 per bhori. The more commonly traded 21-carat gold now stands at Tk 2,12,635 per bhori, while 18-carat gold is priced at Tk 1,82,250. The traditional sanatan-method gold, the most affordable category, has been set at Tk 1,48,424 per bhori.

The association issues periodic price notifications to standardise gold rates across the country's jewellery trade. Wednesday's bulletin revises all four gold grades as well as silver in a single announcement.

Silver has also seen a corresponding reduction. The 22-carat silver rate has been fixed at Tk 4,899 per bhori, with 21-carat silver at Tk 4,666 and 18-carat at Tk 4,024. Sanatan-method silver, the lowest grade, now stands at Tk 3,033 per bhori.
