Gold price drops further to Tk 251,184 per bhori
Gold prices in the local market have been reduced further, with the price of the highest quality 22-carat gold falling by Tk 6,590 per bhori.
Following the reduction, the price of one bhori, 11.664 grams, of 22-carat gold now stands at Tk 251,184.
The price cut comes in line with a fall in the price of refined gold in the local market.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association, Bajius, said the new prices will take effect from 10:45 am on Monday, February 2.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Bajius Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring. The information was later confirmed in a notice signed by committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.
Earlier, a price reduction of Tk 1,925 per bhori had been announced on Sunday night, effective from Monday. However, within hours, a further reduction was decided.
Under the revised prices, 21-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 6,298 to Tk 239,754 per bhori.
The price of 18-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 5,365 to Tk 205,520 per bhori, while traditional method gold has been reduced by Tk 4,374 to Tk 168,195 per bhori.
Despite the reduction in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver has been fixed at Tk 7,290 per bhori, 21-carat silver at Tk 6,940, 18-carat silver at Tk 5,949 and traditional method silver at Tk 4,432 per bhori.
