Gold price drops Tk 2,158 per bhori
The price of gold has been slashed again in the country, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) reducing the rate by Tk 2,158 per bhori (11.664 grams). With this new adjustment, the price of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 2,19,808 per bhori.
The price cut was announced in a press release on Tuesday morning, July 14, and became effective from 10:00 am the same day.
BAJUS cited a drop in the price of pure gold in the local market as the reason for the reduction. The new prices, including VAT, are:
22-carat: Tk 2,19,808 per bhori
21-carat: Tk 2,09,894 per bhori
18-carat: Tk 1,80,267 per bhori
Traditional gold: Tk 1,47,316 per bhori
BAJUS clarified that these prices will remain in effect until further notice. Labour charges may vary depending on the design of the ornaments, but VAT is now included in the listed selling price and cannot be charged separately.
This year, the price of gold has been adjusted 91 times in total, with 44 increases, 46 decreases, and one VAT adjustment.
