Gold price jumps Tk 2,158 per bhori

Gold prices have increased in the domestic markets, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) raising the price of gold jewellery by up to Tk 2,158 per bhori, including VAT.

The new rates came into effect at 10am on Saturday (August 15), according to a BAJUS notification.

The decision was taken at a meeting of BAJUS’s Standing Committee on Price Determination and Price Monitoring at 9am on Saturday.

Under the revised rates, a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold, the highest standard commonly traded in the market, now costs Tk 236,779 including VAT, up from Tk 234,621 previously.

The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 226,165 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk 194,206. The price of traditional-method gold has been fixed at Tk 158,630 per bhori.

Despite the increase in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged. A bhori of 22-carat silver continues to cost Tk 5,074, while 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional silver remain priced at Tk 4,841, Tk 4,200 and Tk 3,149, respectively.
