Gold price jumps Tk 4,374 per bhori

Gold prices rose again in the domestic market, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) raising the rate by Tk 4,374 per bhori for the highest-quality 22-karat variety.

The new prices took effect from 10:00am, according to a notice issued by BAJUS on Saturday morning (August 8).

The trade body cited an increase in the price of pure gold in both international and local markets as the reason for the adjustment.

Under the revised rates, 22-karat gold — the finest grade — now sells for Tk 234,038 per bhori (11.664 grams), inclusive of VAT. Prices for other grades were set accordingly: 21-karat gold will go for Tk 223,540 per bhori, 18-karat gold for Tk 191,931 per bhori, and traditional (Shonatoni) gold for Tk 156,822 per bhori.

The latest revision marks the 100th price adjustment in the domestic gold market so far in 2026. Of these, prices have been raised 49 times, cut 50 times, and adjusted once for VAT changes.
