Gold price rises again after three days

The price of gold has been hiked again in the local market. The price of 22-carat gold per bhori increased by Tk 1,633 within three days. With the new price, a bhori of 22-carat gold now costs Tk 2,47,745.

The new price was set at a meeting of the Bangladesh Jewellers Association's (BAJUS) Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Tuesday, August 25. The new rates came into effect from 10am.

BAJUS said the new price was set considering the overall situation, following a rise in the price of raw gold in the local market.

According to the new rates, per gram of 22-carat gold is Tk 21,240, 21-carat Tk 20,285, 18-carat Tk 17,420 and traditional gold Tk 14,225.

In bhori terms, 21-carat gold now costs around Tk 2,36,658, 18-carat around Tk 2,03,185 and traditional gold around Tk 1,65,939.

Earlier, on Saturday, August 22, BAJUS had set the price of 22-carat gold per bhori at Tk 2,46,112. The price has been raised again within just three days.

On August 20, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori was increased by Tk 3,849, followed by another Tk 5,482 hike on August 22. In total, the price per bhori of 22-carat gold has risen by nearly Tk 11,000 in just five days.

BAJUS has also set the prices of silver ornaments. According to the new rates, per gram of 22-carat silver is Tk 470, 21-carat Tk 450, 18-carat Tk 385 and traditional silver Tk 290.

BAJUS said VAT is included in the fixed selling price, so no separate VAT can be charged from customers. However, making charges will be added depending on the design.

The new rates will remain effective across all jewellery outlets in the country until further notice.
