Gold prices in Bangladesh have risen again, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) increasing the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,266 per bhori. The new price, including VAT, stands at Tk 220,858 per bhori.

BAJUS announced the revised rates in a statement on Monday (November 2), with the new prices taking effect from 10am the same day. The association said the decision was prompted by an increase in the price of pure gold, locally known as tejabi gold, in the domestic market.

The revised rates were finalised at a meeting of BAJUS's Standing Committee on Price Determination and Price Monitoring. A subsequent notice announcing the new prices was signed by the committee's chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.

Under the revised rates, the price of 21-carat gold has increased by Tk 3,149 per bhori to Tk 210,943. The price of 18-carat gold has risen by Tk 2,741 to Tk 181,200 per bhori, while traditional-method gold has become Tk 2,216 more expensive, taking its price to Tk 148,016 per bhori.

Despite the increase in gold prices, BAJUS has kept silver prices unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver remains Tk 3,500 per bhori, while 21-carat silver is priced at Tk 3,383, 18-carat silver at Tk 2,916 and traditional-method silver at Tk 2,216 per bhori.

BAJUS had reduced gold prices twice on October 30 and 31, cutting the price of 22-carat gold by a combined Tk 7,114 per bhori. The latest increase comes after those two consecutive reductions.
