Gold prices cut by Tk 7,115 per bhori

Gold prices have been reduced in domestic markets, with the price of 22-carat gold jewellery falling by Tk 7,115 per bhori (11.664 grams), according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).

Following the latest adjustment, a bhori of 22-carat gold jewellery, including VAT, will cost Tk 240,628.

The new rates came into effect at 10am on Saturday (August 29).

The BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring took the decision at a meeting today, citing a decline in the price of refined gold in the local market.

The revised rates were announced in a notice signed by committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.

The price of 21-carat gold has been cut by Tk 6,823 per bhori to Tk 229,781, while 18-carat gold has fallen by Tk 5,832 to Tk 197,355 per bhori.

Gold sold under the traditional system has also become cheaper, with its price reduced by Tk 4,724 to Tk 161,196 per bhori.

Silver prices have also been lowered. The price of 22-carat silver has been cut by Tk 175 per bhori to Tk 5,307, while 21-carat silver is now Tk 5,074, down by Tk 175.

The price of 18-carat silver has fallen by Tk 117 to Tk 4,374 per bhori, while silver under the traditional system has been reduced by Tk 59 to Tk 3,324.
