Gold prices drop again45201
Bangladesh Jewelers Association (Bajus) has brought a major adjustment in the price of gold. Due to the decline in the price of pure gold (acid gold) in the local market, the new price has been reduced by Tk 5,482 per bhori. As a result, the price of a 22-carat bhori of gold has come down to Tk 2,25,290.
Bajus announced the new price in a notification on Wednesday (June 24) morning. According to the decision of the organization, the new price has been effective in all jewelry establishments in the country from 10 am on Wednesday.
Bajus said that the new price of gold has been fixed considering the overall situation due to the decline in the price of pure gold in the local market.
According to the new price list, the price of 22-carat bhori (11.664 grams) of gold, including VAT, has been fixed at Tk 2,25,290. In addition, 21-carat gold will be sold at Tk215,142 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk184,758 and traditional gold at Tk150,932.
Bajus also said that this price will remain effective until further notice. However, wages will be added separately depending on the design and craftsmanship of the jewelry. Since VAT is included in the selling price of gold jewelry, additional VAT cannot be collected from customers. In addition, Bajus' existing policy regarding jewelry exchange and repurchase will remain in effect.
Earlier, Bajus had increased the price of gold on June 22. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold was increased by Tk4,432 per bhori to Tk230,772. In just two days, the price was reduced by more than that increase.
So far this year, the price of gold has been adjusted 80 times in the domestic market. Of these, 40 price increases, 39 decreases and one VAT adjustment were made. Last year too, there was widespread volatility in the gold market. In 2025, a total of 93 price adjustments were made, of which 64 increased and 29 decreased.
