Gold prices drop sharply, cut by Tk 4,374 per bhori
Gold prices in the local market witnessed a significant decline nationwide as the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) reduced rates by Tk 4,374 per bhori, citing a fall in the price of pure gold in the domestic bullion market.
The revised prices took effect at 10:00am on Friday (June 19), according to a BAJUS notification.
Under the new structure, the price of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 228,556 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT. The price of 21-carat gold stands at Tk 222,491 per bhori, while 18-carat gold is priced at Tk 191,056 per bhori. Traditional method gold has been set at Tk 156,064 per bhori.
Just a day earlier, BAJUS had adjusted VAT-related pricing, setting 22-carat gold at Tk 232,930 per bhori.
BAJUS said the latest price revision reflects a decline in local pure gold prices and overall market adjustments.
With this change, gold prices in Bangladesh have now been revised 77 times so far this year—39 times upward and 37 times downward, along with one VAT adjustment. In 2025, prices were revised 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 decreases.
