Gold prices fall
Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has again decreased the price of gold in the country’s market. According to the new decision the price of per bhori of 22-carat gold has been fixed at 2 lakh 29 thousand 80 taka including VAT by decreasing 1 thousand 691 taka.
BAJUS has informed in a press release that the new price has come into effect from 10am on Monday (October 5). It has been informed in the press release that the new prices of the two metals have also been fixed in the country’s market as the prices of pure gold and silver decreased in the local market.
According to the new price list the price of per bhori of 21-carat gold has been fixed at 2 lakh 18 thousand 817 taka. Besides the price of per bhori of 18-carat gold has been fixed at 1 lakh 87 thousand 907 taka and the price of per bhori of traditional method gold has been fixed at 1 lakh 53 thousand 498 taka.
BAJUS has informed that this price will remain effective at all jewellery institutions of the country until the next announcement is given. However the wage may be different according to the design of the ornament. Since VAT remains included with the sale price of gold and silver ornaments VAT cannot be collected separately from the customers.
Besides it has also been informed in the press release that the existing policy of BAJUS will remain unchanged in the case of purchase-sale and exchange of ornaments excluding the fixed wage and the price of the stone.
Earlier the price of per bhori of 22-carat gold including VAT was fixed at 2 lakh 30 thousand 772 taka, the price of 21-carat at 2 lakh 20 thousand 391 taka, the price of 18-carat at 1 lakh 89 thousand 248 taka and the price of traditional method gold at 1 lakh 54 thousand 606 taka on September 30 last.
The price of gold in the country’s market has been adjusted 121 times so far in the current year. Among them the price has increased 59 times, decreased 61 times and the price has been changed once due to VAT adjustment.
However although the price of gold has decreased the price of silver has remained unchanged. The price of per bhori of 22-carat silver including VAT has been fixed at 4 thousand 316 taka. The price of per bhori of 21-carat silver has been fixed at 4 thousand 141 taka, 18-carat at 3 thousand 558 taka and the price of per bhori of traditional method silver has been fixed at 2 thousand 683 taka.
The price of silver has been adjusted 73 times so far in the current year. Among them the price has increased 36 times and decreased 37 times.
