Gold prices rise again, crossing Tk 268,000 per bhori
Amid rising prices of raw gold and silver in the international market, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has decided to increase gold prices once again in the local market. According to the new decision, the price of 22-carat hallmark gold has been set at Tk 268,213 per bhori.
The new rates came into effect from Tuesday morning, March 10.
The decision to adjust prices was taken at an emergency meeting of BAJUS's Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring this morning.
According to the new price list, 21-carat gold will be sold at Tk 256,024 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk 219,458, and traditional method gold at Tk 179,519 per bhori.
Alongside gold, silver prices have also increased. According to the new rates, 22-carat silver will be sold at Tk 6,531 per bhori, 21-carat at Tk 6,240, 18-carat at Tk 5,365, and traditional method silver at Tk 4,024 per bhori.
The notification stated that this new price list will remain effective in all jewellery establishments across the country until further instructions. BAJUS also informed that it is mandatory to collect the government-fixed 5 per cent VAT from buyers on gold purchases and deposit it in the government treasury.
