Gold prices in Bangladesh rose again on Tuesday (February 3), with high-quality 22-carat gold set at Tk 2,51,184 per tola, up Tk 5,424 from Monday’s Tk 2,45,760, following a surge in international gold rates.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) said the hike follows a surge in international gold rates.

In a Tuesday morning meeting of BAJUS’s Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, the new rates were unanimously approved and enforced from 10:30am.

According to BAJUS, rates for hallmark cadmium gold jewellery per gram are Tk 21,535 for 22-carat, Tk 17,620 for 21-carat, and Tk 14,420 for 18-carat. Traditional gold jewellery is priced at Tk 545 per gram. Corresponding silver jewellery rates are Tk 520, Tk480, Tk 446, and Tk 435 per gram.

Jewellers have been instructed to sell at these rates until further notice and collect 5% VAT from buyers for government remittance, the association added.
