Gold prices rise again
Gold prices in Bangladesh have been increased again just a day after a reduction, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association announced on Wednesday (MAy 6).
The price of gold has been raised by up to Tk 2,258 per bhori, taking the rate of 22-carat gold to Tk 242,495 per bhori. On Tuesday, the same was priced at Tk 240,337.
In a statement issued in the morning, BAJUS said the new prices came into effect from 10am on May 6.
The association attributed the hike to an increase in the price of pure gold in the local market.
As per the revised rates, 21-carat gold is now priced at Tk 231,472 per bhori, while 18-carat gold costs Tk 198,405 per bhori. Gold produced through the traditional method is being sold at Tk 161,605 per bhori.
Silver prices have also been adjusted upward. The price of 22-carat silver has been set at Tk 5,657 per bhori, 21-carat at Tk 5,365, 18-carat at Tk 4,607, and traditional silver at Tk 3,441.
Gold prices have seen fluctuations in the international market amid ongoing geopolitical tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. According to global market data, gold is currently trading at around $4,650 per ounce, down from $5,200 on January 30 and $5,550 on January 29.
