Gold prices rise by Tk2,216 per bhori

Gold prices have increased once again in the country's market, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) raising the price of gold jewellery by up to Tk 2,216 per bhori, including VAT.

The revised prices came into effect from 10:00am on Monday (July 27), according to a BAJUS notification.

BAJUS said the decision was taken at a meeting of its Standing Committee on Price Determination and Price Monitoring, held at 9:00am, following a review of the domestic gold market.

Under the new price list, the price of 22-carat gold jewellery has been fixed at Tk 223,074 per bhori (11.664 grams), up from Tk 220,858.

The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 213,043 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will now sell for Tk 182,950 per bhori. The price of traditional-method gold has been increased to Tk 149,474 per bhori.

Alongside gold, silver prices have also been revised upward. A bhori of 22-carat silver will now cost Tk 4,666, while 21-carat silver has been priced at Tk 4,549 per bhori. The new prices for 18-carat and traditional-method silver stand at Tk 3,907 and Tk 2,974 per bhori, respectively.

The latest adjustment marks another increase in precious metal prices amid fluctuations in the domestic bullion market.
