Gopalganj: 910 accused in 4 cases under anti-terrorism act, 5 arrested

A total of 910 people, including 200 named individuals, have been accused in four cases filed in Gopalganj related to the Awami League-called lockdown programme.

Of the four cases, two were filed in Sadar, and one each in Kotalipara and Kashiani. Howerver, five of the accused have been apprehended so far.

SP (Sadar) Md. Shah Alam said Saturday that on 13 November, violent activities took place at several city locations. Sheikh Naim, son of former MP Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, is the prime accused in the Sadar cases, which involve 570 people, including 100 named; four have been arrested.

Khandaker Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotalipara Police Station, said, "Kotalipara cases list 56 accused, including 16 named; one arrested suspect was sent to jail."

Additionally, Kashiani cases include 284 accused, with 84 named and 200 unnamed.

During the 13 November programme, petrol bombs were thrown at the Public Works Department vehicle and Ulpur Grameen Bank office, and roads were blocked with felled trees.
