Gopalganj Clash: Death toll in violence rises to 4
The death toll in the ongoing political violence in Gopalganj has climbed to four, according to hospital authorities.
Dr Jibitesh Biswas, superintendent of the 250-bed General Hospital in Gopalganj, confirmed around 6:45pm on Wednesday (July 16) that four bodies with various injury marks had been brought to the hospital.
Several others injured in the clashes are currently receiving treatment. However, the exact number of injured individuals remains unclear as emergency services continue to respond.
The clashes erupted earlier in the day following violence related to a rally organized by the National Citizens Party (NCP) in the district town. Authorities have since imposed Section 144 and a curfew across Gopalganj to control the situation.
