Goverment accepted JnU protesters demands: UGC Chairman
University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor SMA Faiz announced on Friday that the government has accepted the demands of the protesting students of Jagannath University (JnU).
He made the announcement at a protest rally around 7:00 PM at the Kakrail intersection in Dhaka.
Prof Faiz said they worked tirelessly throughout the day to address the students' concerns.
"Our only aim was to ensure that our students are not left out on the streets," he said. "I can assure you that the UGC and university authorities will move forward as a family."
Expressing optimism, he added, "If we stay united, we will be able to resolve all the ongoing issues. If we cannot solve the crisis by ourselves, no one else will be able to do it."
He said they worked in coordination with the chief adviser, education adviser, finance adviser and others to reach a resolution.
The development came just hours after JnU students began a mass hunger strike at 3:30 PM to press home their four-point demand. The UGC chairman personally briefed the demonstrators at the site.
