Government appoints new VCs for two universities, Pro-VCs for 16
The government has appointed new Vice-Chancellors (VCs) for Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) and Sunamganj University of Science and Technology. At the same time, new Pro-Vice-Chancellors (Pro-VCs) have been appointed for 16 public universities across the country.
The Ministry of Education's Secondary and Higher Education Division announced the appointments through separate notifications on Monday and Tuesday.
Professor Abu Sadat Sayem of the university's Mechanical Engineering Department has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of CUET. He will succeed the current VC, Professor Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan.
On the other hand, Professor Md Zakir Hossain of the Department of Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies at Islamic University has been appointed as the new VC of Sunamganj University of Science and Technology. He will succeed the current VC, Professor Md Nizam Uddin.
Additionally, new Pro-Vice-Chancellors (Pro-VCs) have been appointed for 16 universities across the country through the same notifications. The Ministry of Education said these appointments will take effect in accordance with the conditions specified in the notifications.
