Government approves two more LNG cargoes from Qatar

Government has approved the import of two additional liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes from QatarEnergy Trading LLC under the existing government-to-government (G2G) agreement.

The approval was given at the 46th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase, chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury at the Secretariat on Wednesday (September 23).

According to a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the two cargoes are scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on November 6 and November 22, 2026.

The LNG will be purchased at a price slightly different from the rate specified in the existing G2G agreement. The price has been set at $0.02 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) below the Japan Korea Marker (JKM) index.

The committee approved the proposal after reviewing the division’s recommendation to procure the additional cargoes from QatarEnergy Trading LLC.

The latest imports are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to meet rising domestic energy demand and ensure adequate LNG supplies.
