Government fully prepared to tackle disaster: Home Minister

The government has all necessary preparations to tackle disasters, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said. He also said government and private initiatives to assist flood-affected people are ongoing.

The minister made these remarks while distributing relief among flood victims in the Fashiakhali area of Chakaria upazila, Cox's Bazar, on Friday afternoon, July 17.

He said the BNP is a government of the people and will always stand by them.

The home minister said surveys are being conducted in flood-affected areas. After the surveys, necessary measures will be taken to rehabilitate damaged infrastructure, including roads, educational institutions and embankments, and to assist affected farmers in returning to normal life.

After the relief distribution, the home minister visited damaged embankments, roads and homesteads, spoke with affected people and heard about their suffering. He urged the administration to take swift action.
