A human chain, rally and protest song procession were held in Bogura demanding the cancellation of the revised notification of ‘Government Primary School Teacher Recruitment Rules-2025’ and the reinstatement of the posts of ‘Assistant Teacher (Music)’ and ‘Assistant Teacher (Physical Education).’

The program alleged that the interim government had surrendered to several religious and communal parties.

The program was organized on Wednesday (November 12) afternoon in Satmatha area of the city by the Charan Cultural Center and the district branch of the Samajtantrik Chhatra Front. Advocate Radha Rani Barman, president of the Bogra district committee of Charan Cultural Center, presided over the program.

Advocate Saiful Islam Paltu, convener of the district branch of the Bangladesh Socialist Party (BSF), Niyoti Sarkar Nitu, president of the district branch of the Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, General Secretary Ridham Goswami Bibh and many others spoke.

In his speech, Saiful Islam Paltu said that music and physical education were made mandatory in primary schools for the purpose of physically well-structured and mentally balanced development of children. But the current government has suddenly canceled the appointment of teachers in these two subjects, which is a suicidal decision.

He also said that the government has surrendered to some religious communal groups. This identified religious fascist group wants to build the country's education structure in the style of Taliban. They want to create a generation that is culturally crippled and mentally disabled.

In her speech as the president, Radha Rani Barman said that the abolition of the textbook revision committee last year, the removal of the word 'tribal' and graffiti at the beginning of this year - all these are the results of the government's knee-jerk policy under pressure from communal groups. In continuation of this, the decision has now been taken to abolish the posts of music and physical education teachers in primary schools.

Niyoti Sarkar Nitu said that since August 5, 2024, communal evil forces have been creating 'mobs' and attacking shrines and temples, vandalizing them, killing people of different beliefs, taking bodies out of graves and burning them, and vandalizing memorial sculptures of the Liberation War. On the one hand, the government is beating the working people with sticks when they take to the streets for their livelihood, and using water cannons in teachers' processions. On the other hand, the current government is patronizing religious fascist groups.

Speakers at the rally strongly condemned the government's decision and demanded its immediate withdrawal. He also called for the reinstatement of the positions of music and physical education teachers in primary schools for the sake of the mental, cultural and human development of children and adolescents.
