Government issues new directive to save energy
The government has issued directives to reduce fuel oil usage in the country amid the global energy crisis. Ministries and divisions have been instructed to ensure that field-level participants join meetings, workshops and training programmes through virtual platforms. Physical gatherings should be avoided unless absolutely essential.
The Cabinet Division recently sent a letter to this effect to the prime minister's principal secretary, all senior secretaries and secretaries, all divisional commissioners, all deputy commissioners and all upazila executive officers, along with other concerned officials.
The letter stated that considering the global energy situation, it is necessary to ensure the uninterrupted and effective conduct of government activities while saving fuel oil in the country.
In this situation, field-level participants must be ensured to join various programmes (such as meetings, workshops, training) organised by ministries and divisions through virtual platforms.
The letter noted that participation in divisional-level programmes from district level, and in district-level programmes from upazila level, must be completed through virtual means. Physical meetings should be avoided unless absolutely essential to save vehicle fuel.
The letter requested that necessary measures be taken to ensure proper compliance until further directives are issued.
